PHARMIX s.r.o. has become a partner of the unique student project Y Space, which was established at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies at VUT Brno. This is the first student initiative in the Czech Republic focused on satellite and space technology development.
Historic Achievement of Czech Team
Y Space recently reached a significant milestone – their main mission CIMER (Cyanobacteria In Microgravity Environment Research) was selected for the prestigious ESA Fly Your Satellite! Design Booster program. Y Space has thus become the first team in Czech Republic history to be selected for this exclusive European Space Agency program.
The CIMER project focuses on research into oxygen production using cyanobacteria in a microgravity environment – an experiment that could contribute to more sustainable oxygen supply during long-term space missions and future space colonization.
Connecting Academia with Industry
Y Space isn’t just about satellites – it’s an initiative that connects students with industrial partners, research institutions, and international agencies. The team has three main goals:
- Practical experience for students in the space industry
- Promotion of technical fields in the South Moravian Region
- Building a community of young professionals fascinated by space
Through participation in the ESA program, students gain access to exclusive workshops, cutting-edge testing facilities, and the opportunity to collaborate directly with European Space Agency experts.
